Dinosaur skeletons

Dinosaurs can be put into two groups just by looking at their hip bones. Class 4 learnt that some dinosaurs had lizard hipped pelvises whereas others had bird hipped. That means that birds have evolved from dinosaurs and that some can be traced back to  when dinosaurs ruled the world!
I wonder if class 4 can remember the names of any dinosaurs and tell the world whether they were bird hipped or lizard hipped? Have you come across any new ones since our lesson that you can add to the blog? We can then add a link to our dinosaur classification books and make them interactive!

Reach for the Moon!

In PSHCE with Mrs. Brooks, you have all designed rockets with your personal target that you have set yourself. If you could set a target for anybody in the world, what target would you set them to aim for? What goal would you want for them to achieve and why?

The Amazing Romans and the centimetre

We were learning about measurements today. We looked at where the words centi and milli come from and what they mean when you combine them, like centimetre for example. We made our own metre measuring tapes. What did we use our metre measuring tapes to measure? What else could we measure using our metre measuring tapes? We decided that metre measuring tapes were not accurate enough so we decided to use centimetres with our metres to fine-tune and make our measurements more precise. Remind me how many centimetres are there in a metre? What would you measure in centimetres? Would you measure the distance between your house and school in centimetres? Why or why not? Those Romans were just SO clever, but the cleverest Italians come from a special place called Cesinali, Avellino!

Future Meteorologists

So much snow at Highover! We decided to get out and learn about averages, finding out the average snowfall around Highover.

Mathematics - 3 dimensional shapes

This week in Maths, class 4 have been learning about the main features of common 3 dimensional shapes. What are the 3 dimensions of a three dimensional shape? If a face is a feature of a 3D shape what are the others? What 3D shapes do you remember learning about this week? Which 3D shape could have cast this shadow in the photo above? Do you agree or disagree with your classmates suggestions? Thanks to Mr. Worbey for helping take the photo!

Highover Book Blog goes international!

Graph of most popular countries among blog viewers
Highover's Book Blog is now being viewed in all the countries that are shaded in different shades of green. The darker shade of green is the UK, which includes England, where we live. Can you name the other shaded countries? Are our classmates correct or incorrect? A big well done to all class 4 pupils who have commented on it so far!
